Performing Arts

Throughout the course, the learners are given the opportunity to explore their own interests both creatively and academically. It is also hoped that they will be drawn into, contribute to, and benefit from the ethos of experimentation and interdisciplinary work that exists within the Performing Arts area, which is supported by well-qualified and professionally active members of staff.

Course Outline

In Year One the introductory units explore general performance techniques and provide basic training and understanding of contemporary acting, dance, physical theatre and voice. The practical work is underpinned by historical and contemporary studies and will culminate in a major performance project. Units at this level include; Research Project, Business Management, Acting Methods and Styles, Acting for Camera, Singing, Contemporary Dance, Choreography Solo and Physical Theatre. Year Two units are designed to build upon the skills and knowledge developed in Year One, offering some flexibility in terms of selecting a specialist area. Units in Year Two include; Project Realisation, Professional Practice, Acting Methods - Innovations, Dance for Camera, Directing, Group Choreography, Singing Development, Touring Performance and Workshop Leadership.

Your Future Opportunities
