| Course Description | The Care programmes offered by the Work Based Learning Unit will include all of the following elements: • Initial assessment • Individualised schedule • Induction • Specialist tutor support • Counselling and guidance • Additional learner support where necessary Programme Content • NVQ HSCare level 2 4 Mandatory units + 2 chosen optional units = 6 units • NVQ HSCare level 3 4 Mandatory units + 4 chosen optional units = 8 units • NVQ HSCare level 4 4 Mandatory units + 4 chosen optional units = 8 units (Choice of optional units to be matched to learner’s job description) The course can be commenced at any time through the year, as a roll on roll off programme. Training is carried out at both the workplace, in a joint working partnership. Underpinning knowledge delivery will be via distance learning materials. A schedule of visits will be formulated as part of the programme to accommodate any shift patterns. Both candidate and employer will agree these arrangements, as time off the work floor will be required. Learners will be provided with a set of National Standards supplied by City and Guilds (the awarding body), and will be required to: • Supply performance and knowledge evidence against the National Care Standards, as agreed within the assessment plan. • Attend the pre-arranged meetings with the assessor to formulate and review the assessment plan. • Supply contact addresses of key persons used in evidence gathering • Supply evidence as agreed within the assessment plan, by the set deadlines |

| Entry Requirements | Entry Requirements: Age 18+ (Legislation dictates that only persons 18 or over can deliver personal care.) • No qualifications necessary but a good foundation in English and Maths would be an advantage. • To have completed National Care Standards Induction. • Have been working at the appropriate level for a minimum of 3 months. |
